Details about the retreat
The place
Ytterjärna is a place where nature, creativity and conscious living meet: gardens, organic architecture and the quiet Swedish countryside, with a long tradition of ecological and social sustainability. It is a setting to slow down, find new perspectives and regain a sense of balance.
Ytterjärna Hotell, Kulturcentrum 14, 153 91 Järna, Sweden
Why we do this
We live in Ytterjärna, and we want everyone to experience this magical place. This retreat is also the event we are creating to raise money for our international internships in February. All profit goes to them.
By joining, you give yourself a pause and you help make our internships possible.
Phone-free by design
In the midst of busy lives, we invite you to take a pause from the digital world and spend a few days without your phone. It is a chance to slow down, be fully present, and reconnect with yourself, others and your surroundings.
For your peace of mind, we give you an emergency contact number that family and friends can use to reach you during the retreat.

Sauna on the lake, 360 SEK per person. A sauna overlooking the fjärd.
Skyspace by James Turrell, 260 SEK per person. An art installation designed by the artist James Turrell and built by architect Walter Druml in Swedish tradition, with materials from the surrounding area. Inside are white walls, a white dome open to the sky and a marble floor of Swedish diabase. The floor and benches are heated, so you can visit in any weather, all year round. By day it feels as if the sky is lowered through the opening in the roof. From 30 minutes before sunset until 60 to 90 minutes after, the sky slowly changes colour: a quiet, meditative kind of slow art that leaves room for reflection and stillness.
James Turrell is an American artist who works with light, colour and space, and has made more than 75 permanent installations worldwide. He is best known for Roden Crater, an extinct volcano in Arizona that he is turning into an observatory for the sky’s changing light.
